The correction we most often need

We are not a disposable email service

This is the detail that gets missed, and it is the one that matters. A disposable mailbox is public, temporary, and readable by anyone who knows the address. An alias is private, permanent, belongs to one account, and forwards to a real mailbox. Different product, different users, different problem.

25 words

alias.mom gives every signup its own email address, forwarding to your real one. If an address starts getting spam, delete it. Open source, anonymous signup.

100 words

alias.mom is an email aliasing service. Instead of handing your real address to every shop, forum and form, you hand out a separate address for each one, and mail is forwarded to the mailbox you already use. When an address starts getting spam you delete it, and you know exactly who leaked it.

Signup takes no email address, no phone number and no password: accounts are a 16-digit number, and can be paid for in cash or Monero. The service is fully open source under the AGPL and can be self-hosted. It is not disposable mail: aliases are private and permanent, and on your own domain they keep working even if we do not.

Both use currentColor, so they take the colour of whatever they sit on and there is no separate light and dark file to fall out of sync. Set the wordmark in Montserrat 600 if you are rebuilding it; the font is bundled on this site under the SIL Open Font License.

Recolour the mark, stretch it, rotate it, or add effects to it
Set the wordmark in another typeface
Use either mark to suggest we endorse something
Put the mark on a background it cannot be read against. It needs clear space of about the height of the envelope on every side.

The AGPL covers the code. It does not cover the name or the marks, which is the usual arrangement and is worth stating plainly: fork the software freely, call it something else.

Who to quote

The company is an ordinary registered business and we will tell you who runs it. The anonymity this service offers is our users' anonymity, which is a property of how it is built rather than a claim about us: signup takes no identity, so there is none to hand over.

Every comparable service works this way. Mullvad publishes a company registration number you can look up in fifteen seconds while knowing nothing about its customers. We would rather be checkable than mysterious.
